Service Review: Pottery Barn in Mall of St. Matts
The Magnetic Group - Colleen |
February 19, 2010 I recently decided to use one of my remaining holiday gift cards. Pottery Barn has always been one of my favorite stores, but I usually shop through the catalogue or Internet. This time I decided to visit the Mall of St. Matthews location to view the merchandise in person.
What followed was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. So often I visit a retail store and pass employees that say nothing. At Pottery Barn, this was not the case. Every single employee smiled, greeted me, and asked if I needed help with anything.
The Pottery Barn employees did this without being robotic. Each sales representative had original conversations with me and took a genuine interest in my patronage. I can’t recall ever visiting another store where every single employee seemed ecstatic just to be at work.
When I finished shopping, I approached the cashier’s section. She gave a huge smile and related her personal experiences to my Pottery Barn visit. She spoke of how much she loved what I was purchasing.
I thought this was very valuable, especially because she wasn’t trying to sell me anything at this point.
She genuinely believed in Pottery Barn’s merchandise. She did this in a humorous and friendly way that made me feel great about my visit and my purchases.
This experience solidified my appreciation for a phenomenal company. The next time I’m tempted to use the phone or order online, I may just drive the extra ten minutes to see customer service at its very best.
